About the Scholarship

All citizens are eligible to apply for Durham University’s Fully Funded Hatfield Lioness Scholarship to pursue a master’s degree. The Lioness Scholarship is intended to be given by Hatfield College to a person who possesses the intellectual and character traits necessary to finish and profit from a postgraduate programme, who will also represent their home nation well in Durham and use the knowledge and skills they have gained from their master’s programme and experience there to benefit their home country when they return.

Benefits of the Scholarship

Selected applicants will enjoy the following benefits:

• Stipend for living expenses – 12 monthly payments.
• Full payment of University tuition fees.
• “Settling in allowance” on arrival.
  Fully funded, self-catered, mixed accommodation at Hatfield College.
• One return economy air ticket from the home country to the UK, and the cost of return travel between the UK airport and Durham City.

Scholarship Eligibility

The following list outlines the requirements for the Scholarship:

• Candidates cannot receive funding for their postgraduate studies from any other scholarship programme.
• By the end of June 2024, applicants must have submitted an application and received an unconditional offer of admission to the master’s programme of their choice.
• Candidates have to be female.
• Possess an appropriate honours degree that meets the requirements to be accepted into the master’s programme of your choice.
• Not possess an advanced degree.
• Possess the necessary English language proficiency in addition to all other prerequisites for admission to the course.
• Not otherwise be able to afford to study in the UK for a Master’s degree.
