This is to bring to the general public that applications for the Fully and Partially Funded PhD and Post Doc scholarships of the Harvard University, United States of America, for the year 2024 session is now open. The scholarship is opened to all internationals.

About the scholarship

All foreign citizens may apply for the PhD and Postdoc Funded Scholarships at Harvard University in the United States. Both doctoral hopefuls and recent Ph.D. holders are welcome. The Academy Scholars are a select group of talented individuals who have the ability to use their work as a springboard for employment in research universities or other international organisations. The Harvard Academy is devoted to building an inclusive community of scholars with a range of experiences, perspectives, and methodologies, and it welcomes committed students.

The goal of the Academics Programme is to find and support outstanding early-career academics whose work combines a command of the language and the history or culture of nations other than the United States or Canada with a mastery of their respective fields in the social sciences or law. Their research may shed light on current or historical domestic, comparative, or global challenges.

Benefits of the Scholarship

1. Five or six Academy Scholars are awarded a two-year in-residence appointment with an annual salary of $75,000 each.
2. This stipend covers travel expenses for conferences and research trips, research assistants, and health insurance.
3. Some instruction is allowed but not necessary.

Scholarship Eligibility

The following list outlines the requirements for the scholarship
1. English is the compulsory study language.
2. Harvard University accepts applications for scholarships from students worldwide.
3. These awards are open to PhD candidates in the social sciences as well as holders of equivalent doctorates who are within two years of the program’s start date of August 1, 2023.
4. For a start date of August 1, 2024, candidates who are nearly finished with their dissertations must be able to submit degree conferral papers from their university’s registrar’s office by June 30, 2024. Candidates who currently have or have in the past held a Harvard postdoctoral fellowship are ineligible.

2. Three letters of recommendation
3. A copy of the transcript from your doctoral programme
4. Research proposal (maximum of 2500 words) outlines intended disciplinary and methodological activities as well as intellectual goals.
5. A brief cover letter outlining the applicant’s academic subject, nation or area of specialisation, and intended research subject.
6. Electronic PDF copies of all application materials, including the three letters of recommendation, are uploaded.
