Uk Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) Scholarships
For students from the South Pacific, the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) Scholarships, supported by the UK’s Blue Planet Fund, present an exceptional chance to pursue a fully funded Master’s or PhD in marine science
The OCPP scholarships, which are being offered by the University of the South Pacific, will allow students from the region to make use of their local expertise, carry out important research, and contribute to the creation of solutions to issues relating to the maritime environment.
These scholarships will support world-class research and innovation in the area of marine pollution. Applications will also be accepted for PhD study from citizens of other Pacific Island countries.
Eligibility
- Candidates for the Master’s degree should be citizens of the Solomon Islands or Vanuatu and should typically reside there.
- The host University’s postgraduate study eligibility requirements must be met by applicants.
- Candidates should put forth a research idea that is fresh, relevant, and likely to have an influence that can be clearly seen to extend beyond the academic world.
- Candidates Should hold an undergraduate or bachelor’s-level degree.
- Candidates should be employed in the field of environment, fisheries, or aquaculture science or have substantial prior work experience in these fields.
- Applications from residents of other Pacific Island nations (Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Tokelau, Samoa, Tonga, and Tuvalu) will be allowed for PhD studies, but only if their research will directly benefit Vanuatu or the Solomon Islands.
Scholarship Value
For a master’s or a PhD, the Association of Commonwealth Universities will provide the following advantages for 18 months or three years :
- Dependent, disability and maternity costs (case by case basis)
- Research support grant
- Travel grant (case by case basis)
- Tuition fees (including general fees and health fees)
- Living allowance
